IV has provided a template for the members to get a print out sign it and send it to IV address so as to be forwarded to the President
Many people have been responding to this and is a good sign. However there are few more lazy folks who doesn't have patience to download, take print out and send it to IV. For these guys, how about creating an online form with the same template and an ability to modify the template as well plus the provision to provide the Name and address and such details that make the letter personal. Once this form is filled and take a print out, put it an envelope and send it to the President. This is some thing similer to online petition except that it is customized to provide the personal details. This is jus to motivate even those lazy guys!!!!

Can someone explain why it seems harder to find backers in the house than in the senate for immigration reform (even the employment based legal immigration)? If we understand this, maybe it will help us focus our lobbying efforts better. Just a thought.

Have we contacted national newspapers New York Times,Washington Post ?
In effort to make legislators and people aware of legal immigration issues, we should take help of media.This would be most effective.
Hiring a lobbying firm to pursue our issues with legislators is a good idea but it should be accompanied with media awareness as well.This is money intensive project and it will take time to reach its target of 100k.We need some other channel of awareness open as well and we need to do that soon so that it has some effect on Feb bills.
People are not aware that we are going thru such long waits to get immigrate legally.This issue needs to be highlighted.

Are you suggesting that no fraud should be reported?
I would say, any fraud, whether H1/L1/F1, employee related, employer related should be reported? Why should law abiding immigrants/workers pay for those who are committing fraud?

So attack on L1 is on the way.
What about another plan to attack F1?
You are NOT supposed to have immigration intent when you apply F1. So what about targeting all those F1 now, since it is very obvious that they didnt come here just to study and go back. So lets smoke them out based on their "fraud intentions".
After that lets attack the H1 landers. Many of them landed in H1 with body shoppers, and later changed to some big american company. Lets find some thing or other against these body shoppers, and all those H1 came with these body shoppers should go back (even though they are with some other company).
Ok. what is left.......... lets find out something bad about everybody else, except me.
Ohh... wait a sec..... we were supposed to be "united", by this forum, not "divided".
In that case L1fraud himself could come under radar.

This is a brilliant thought and lets put it to action now.We all can ask for putting us all Legals on Path to Citizenship. I would definitely put in effort , this may lead to some other solution.

I send a letter to senator Gregg(NH) Last week about July Visa Bulletin reversal by DOS and how its going to affect all individuals who filed their 485 based on original Visa Bulletin published by DOS.
I Just got a call from Senator's office. He is sending a letter to DOS today or tomorrow asking about July Visa Bulletin reversal.
I will post DOS reply as soon as I hear back from senator's office.
Moral of the story is time for action when iron is hot.

somebody with skills in finding out stuff should research on how much money per year is contributed by the working h1b employees and given the numbers that are sent back how much is actually "stolen" from them. I once again say "stolen" from them. If they are sent back they should atleast be entitled to all the money that was "ilegally" taken from them.
this total amount should be published in some widely read news source as " money stolen for benefit of citizens from hard working legal aliens". or as "Skilled legal aliens returning home leave back their earnings for the hungry and poor in US" or something of that sort!!

Specter And Frist Eyeing Each Other's Immigration Efforts
Signaling that the immigration issue faces a tough fight, the Senate Judiciary Committee is planning to produce a wide-ranging bill, while Senate leaders are poised to write their own legislation. A senior GOP leadership aide said Majority Leader Frist is operating on "two tracks" on immigration, waiting to see what the Judiciary panel produces "while being ready to act in lieu thereof to meet member interest of action on this bill."Judiciary Chairman Specter sounded confident that his panel would produce a bill that would wind up on the Senate floor. "The idea of having a leadership bill ... has been abandoned," he said last week. His panel will begin marking up immigration legislation March 2. A chairman's mark expected to be introduced this week will resemble the mark Specter circulated last year, which borrows components from various immigration proposals. It included the border security provisions in the plan introduced by Sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., as well as the guestworker plan introduced by Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.
Specter has characterized the mark as a "starting point" for debate.
Frist has told colleagues he wants to begin floor debate in late March, likely March 27. Senate aides said whether the bill will be written by the committee or leadership depends on how the Judiciary Committee markup goes. "If the committee keeps the bill solid, and if it gets it done on time, Frist won't need to introduce anything," one GOP aide said.
Frist, while touring immigration detention centers Tuesday in Long Beach and Los Angeles, said he opposes giving illegal workers amnesty, but said it was too soon for him to take a position on a guestworker program, which is likely to be the most contentious component of an immigration bill and has divided Republicans. The House passed legislation last year toughening border security and requiring companies to verify the legal status of their employees. Unlike the House bill, the Senate bill is widely expected to include some version of a guestworker program. The program included in the Kennedy-McCain bill would allow illegal workers to join a temporary guestworker program, after which they could be eligible for permanent citizenship if they meet criteria and pay a fine. MONDAY - We won't accept any applications?????? ----RUMOUR
they don't add up
Well of all the money USCIS makes, they better have calculators. Lets ship them one calculator with every application..
..but i wonder if they would know how to use it ..;)

if we pursue independent applications (so both spouses have the option to stop working if they want to); is this the way it works:
- file independent I-485s.
- whoever stops working changes status to H4 or F1 (depending on what they want to do)
- if one gets approved, the other withdraws the application made as a primary and files one as a dependent (since the other persons PD would be current at that point). Some lawyers say you can interfile the spouses I-140 at this stage, others say you cant.
Can you add a dependent after your 485 is approved?
Also, if I become a beneficiary on my wife's application, will I be able to maintain my H-1 status, and keep on renewing it?
My wife and I are now leaning towards independent filing, with no beneficiary for now.

...is getting approved. My case is with an IO since Aug 3 and going by the trend, I should have received an update by now (within 2 weeks of getting assigned to the IO). Not sure whats going on :( This is the worst ever wait in my life. Wonder when its going to end???
